About Us

Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapists is a physical therapist owned private practice that has been a part of the Huntsville, AL/Madison, AL community since 2003. Our Franklin, TN location opened on June 12, 2017. In October of 2019, J&H opened a new facility in Madison, AL (Balch Crossing). We have four convenient locations where we offer “hands-on” care and personalized rehabilitation programs to our valued patients.

At Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapists, we are passionate about our profession, and we strive for 100% patient satisfaction. We accomplish this by providing hands-on, one-on-one care for our patients. Each patient is carefully matched with their therapist and remains with them throughout their treatment to ensure continuity and quality of care. At Johnson & Hayes, you will receive friendly, superior care from highly skilled therapists. Our primary focus is our patients and their complete return to function.

Since 2003

Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapists was founded by Scott Johnson and Todd Hayes in January 2003 with the opening of their Huntsville, AL office. As childhood friends, Scott and Todd played high school and college baseball together. Their shared sports history and their personal sports injuries sparked an interest in physical therapy. Scott and Todd are both graduates from the University of Alabama-Birmingham with Master’s degrees in Physical Therapy.

In 2005, Scott and Todd expanded their practice and opened a Madison, AL location. Brent Congo, PT, OCS is the clinical manager of this facility. He graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with his doctorate in physical therapy. This second location was opened to improve accessibility for patients in the growing Madison area.

The J&H Huntsville, AL office relocated to 4240 Balmoral Drive in 2013. The new space provides room for expansion and ample parking.

On June 12, 2017, J&H opened its 3rd location in Franklin, TN. Jake Odom, DPT is the Director of this facility. He obtained his doctorate in physical therapy from The University of Tennessee- Memphis.

October 14, 2019, J&H opened its 4th location in Madison, AL. Madison-Balch Crossing is managed by Drew Stanford, DPT. He graduated from physical therapy school at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Scott Johnson - Co-Founder, PT, MS

Scott Johnson

Scott Johnson, a Huntsville native, co-founded Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapists in January 2003. Scott began playing baseball and basketball at an early age, which he continued through college. He graduated from Grissom High School, where he lettered in baseball and basketball, and went on to play baseball at Gadsden State Community College. He then played baseball at Birmingham-Southern College, where he received his Bachelor’s degree in Biology/Psychology.

Scott went on to receive his Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama – Birmingham, and later received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Alabama – Birmingham. Having undergone physical therapy due to numerous injuries in collegiate sports, Scott always had an interest in the profession. Scott received his Alabama PT license in 1994, and worked as a Physical Therapist/Manager at Baptist Health System for 4 1/2 years. He then worked as a Physical Therapist/Administrator at HealthSouth for 4-1/2 years.

Scott is married to the former Carrie Cason, and they have two children, Sam and Abby. Scott enjoys treating post-operative and nonoperative orthopedic and musculoskeletal injuries with manual therapy emphasis. His areas of interest and expertise include shoulder and knee injuries, scoliosis rehabilitation, and rehabilitation of athletes. In his spare time, Scott loves to spend time with his family and friends, play golf, and serves as a board member with Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Todd Hayes - Co-Founder, PT, MS

Todd Hayes

Todd Hayes, a Huntsville native, co-founded Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapists in January 2003. Todd has an extensive background in sports. He played baseball and basketball at Grissom High School, where he graduated in 1987. Todd was no stranger to sports related injury; he broke his tibia and fibula in his right leg during a baseball collision. The importance of quality rehabilitation became evident at an extremely young age. After graduation from Grissom, Todd played baseball for two years at Gadsden State Community College, and then went on to play at Lipscomb University.

He received a Dual Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Math upon graduation from Auburn University, and later a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Upon completing his Physical Therapy degree, Todd worked at HealthSouth for three years. He married his high school sweetheart, Monica Lancaster Hayes, and they have three children: Katie, Carter, and Lauren.

In his spare time, Todd loves to coach youth sports, play golf, snow ski, travel and spend time with his family. He enjoys serving on his church mission board and as board member for Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Todd receives extraordinary joy from being a physical therapist because he is able to return people back to the things they love to do.

Nicole Larson - Physical Therapist

Nicole Larson

Nicole Larson is from the Disney capital of the world, Orlando, Florida where she grew up dancing and cheering and trying to show up her brother in any sport he pursued. She is a University of Central Florida graduate with a major in Pre-clinical Health and minor in Fitness Training. She found her passion working as a Physical Therapy technician and went on to the University of Florida to complete her Doctorate in Physical Therapy degree. She has experience in orthopedics and loves working with pediatrics, dancers, cheerleaders, pelvic health and Parkinson’s patients. Her goal is to give her patients the tools they need to connect mind and body and return to optimum health in order to fully participate in life activities. Nicole is married and resides in Franklin, TN. In her spare time, she loves to try new recipes, hike and go to the park with her dog named Cornbread, practice yoga, barre, dance, jog, and watching football with friends. She is excited to contribute to the health and wellness of the Franklin community!

Drew Stanford - Clinic Director, Physical Therapist

Drew Stanford

Drew Stanford, from Hoover, Alabama, joined the Johnson & Hayes Physical Therapists team in 2015 because he appreciated the environment and approach to patient-first care. He became interested in the field while receiving physical therapy after his own baseball related shoulder injury. Drew played baseball at Troy University where he graduated with a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology before receiving his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In his spare time Drew loves hunting, fishing, spending time outdoors and watching baseball and football.

Jake Odom - Clinic Director, Physical Therapist

Jake Odom, DPT, a native of Smithville, Tennessee, joined the Johnson & Hayes family in October 2021. Jake has an extensive background in sports and is very familiar with athletic related injuries. He played football at Dekalb County High School where he was first exposed to physical therapy following an ACL injury and became fascinated with the healing process during his recovery.

Jake received a Bachelors Degree in Kinesiology upon graduation from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and later a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis. Upon completing his physical therapy degree, Jake was a physical therapist for Benchmark Physical Therapy. Jake is certified in Dry Needling and has extensive education in treating Vestibular disorders.

In his spare time, Jake enjoys going to the gym and spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and playing golf. Jake loves being a physical therapist because of the amazing sense of gratitude he receives when people are able to return to their normal lives without pain.
